Jay Romer attorney at lawJay Romer’s law practice is primarily devoted to legal advisory services for small and mid-sized clients regarding all facets of real estate and business transactions. For more than a decade, Mr. Romer has advised individuals, business owners, commercial landlords, tenants and property owners regarding business entity formation and structure, business stabilization and growth, real estate project implementation and associated litigation needs.

Mr. Romer serves on the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s Real Estate Committee and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). A frequent lecturer on urban redevelopment and real estate law/finance issues, he has also taught courses on the subjects at John Carroll University. Mr. Romer serves as vice chair of the Board of Directors at Lakewood Catholic Academy. He also serves on the Board of Directors for The Westerly Senior Apartments and Barton Center, and the Clifton Beach Improvement Association. Mr. Romer resides in Lakewood, Ohio with his family.

A significant portion of Mr. Romer’s practice is dedicated to commercial real estate law focused on project leasing, acquisition, financing, syndication and disposition. He offers extensive experience in real estate acquisition and development work; real estate finance structuring; real estate loan modifications; real estate tax strategy and implementation; commercial lease and service agreements; disposition and short sales; tenancy disputes, collections and evictions; rezoning and land use law; and construction and contractor agreements.

Mr. Romer is also founder and principal of Great Lakes Resources, an established commercial real estate firm with a portfolio of well performing owner managed properties. His focus is developing and managing retail and commercial real estate properties in the 10,000 – 250,000 square foot range, including new construction, acquisition, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse of urban properties.

Mr. Romer holds a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John’s University. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and is admitted in Ohio and the U.S. District Court, Northern District.
